What happens when you mix a 5 year old, scissors, and "quiet time"? This:
That's right people! Xander is officially a barber. I know what you're thinking...his hair doesn't look good. Well, this was just his practice, he did a much better job on our cat :) He enjoyed cutting his own hair so much that we let him go ahead and do it some more to get it out of his system before Jason buzzed it off! What a mess!
He's been a pretty busy guy lately, with all this time off school (Fri-Mon). We went down to his Grammy and Poppy's house for part of the weekend. He was a big help with working on building their greenhouse and trimming all of their trees. I was amazed by how much work he did, he was like a machine! He was also delighted when a tree stump fell over and Grammy found an old hatchet that he could work on it with.....I was less than delighted and stayed away as much as possible while he worked on this project. He also thought he was big stuff riding Poppy's 4-wheeler and driving it (with Mom on the back, of course!) all by himself. It was really nice to get some extra time with him! He starts karate tomorrow after school, so I'm looking forward to seeing how that goes....
Xaidybug thinks he's big stuff too. He talked his Poppa into cutting his hair last night, then letting him run around naked while his brother's hair was being cut. I was cleaning the playroom and heard him in the other bathroom. When I went in to check on him, he was sitting up on the potty. I asked if he was going peepee and he looked at me, grinned and said, "huh" which is Xaidlish for "yes" then I looked closer and he was pooping on the potty! I was so proud of him for doing it all by himself (he's never used the potty before this)!
Xaiden also really enjoyed his time at Grammy and Poppy's, but didn't work too hard like his brother. In fact, he spent most of his time bossing his Grammy around and making her take him for rides on the lawn mower. Every time she stopped, he'd say, "More, more!" And of course, she'd oblige. She even hooked the wagon up to the back of the mower and put a comforter in there for him. He came really close to falling asleep. It was quite cute!
We all really enjoyed our long weekend together....could use more of them I think :)
